BAHRAICH: Few persons created ruckus in the District Women Hospital and later blocked the Buddha Circuit Road for an hour alleging that their patient had died due to lack of treatment as they failed to fulfill doctor's monetary demands. They were pacified by the police. Patient's husband later submitted an application with the Kotwali police against the doctor and the chief medical superintendent.
According to reports, Rajkumar of Surjna village under Hardi police station rushed his wife to Tejwapur Primary Health Centre on Saturday after she experienced labour pain. On Monday evening, she was rushed to District Women Hospital after her condition deteriorated. Rajkumar alleged that on Tuesday, the doctor on duty Dr Shalini Verma told him that a caesarean had to be performed as his wife was anemic.
He further alleged that Dr Verma demanded Rs 18,000 for operation He paid Rs 12,000 to staff nurse Tarannum and Poornima after selling his wife's jewellery and expressed inability to provide another Rs 6,000. Rajkumar further claimed that his wife gave birth to a child and later died. Following the death, family members created uproar on the hospital campus and alleged that the doctor had not treated the patient properly because of money. Chief medical superintendent Dr Sultana Aziz tried to pacify the agitated family members and assured of investigation in the case.
On being informed Kanoongopura Chowki in-charge T B Singh reached the spot and assured the family members of justice and pacified them. Chowki in-charge said that the body was sent for postmortem.
